How did you end up in Mtech?
After completing my Master’s degree, I started working with Securitas Suomi as a receptionist. While working there, I began to realise I wanted to be closer to marketing or management. Driven by that idea, I applied for an open assistant position through Academic Work. It was only after the first interview that I learned the job was at Mtech, earlier I only knew it was an IT Company. When I then searched the internet in excitement to get information about the company, I was amused to see a big cow staring at me. That still makes me laugh. Anyhow, I liked the company and continued to the following interview rounds.
I started working in Mtech from January 2017, but for the first nine months, I worked as a contract agent from Academic Work. Currently I am working as a permanent employee of Mtech.
What do you do in Mtech?
I started as a Human Resource assistant but gradually moved towards marketing. Currently I am responsible for B2B marketing for both domestic and international markets. In this role, I am involved with creating marketing strategies and plans, coordinating the implementation of those plans, developing content to our webpage, social media etc., and working together with different marketing agencies.
How is your normal day like?
My day starts at 9:00 am at the office, and at 7:00 am when I work from home. In a typical week, I work two-three days remotely, which I believe adds to my productivity. I love to work from home for several reasons. It helps me to save a significant amount of time when I can start my work early in the morning. Besides, there is no hush and rush for getting ready, grabbing sandwiches etc.
Due to the nature of my job, I am in contact with a number of people on a regular basis. Marketing is a versatile job and requires knowledge on very different subjects. I also need to be aware of the types of software to use at marketing. I regularly interact with our business directors and other people within our company, as well as with people from different marketing agencies. Sometimes we meet face to face, sometimes via phone or WebEx. In general, working in marketing is fun.
What excites you the most at work?
Ever since I came here, I have been looking forward to the renewal of our website, and I am finally happy to see how it looks now. It is great to see how the two different sites, one dedicated to farmers, the other to B2B customers, are connected. It is natural to be excited when you finally see what you have been working to achieve. Working in marketing is what I wanted and it is fun to work here. I love learning new things and that is what I get to do here all the time.
It is also great that we have a wonderful, friendly and supportive team. It feels great to work and interact with likeminded people.
What do you do on your free time?
I love to watch series from Netflix and HBO. Recently I finished watching Silicon Valley – quite an interesting serial because of the similarities to Mtech and our work here.
This summer my husband and I decided to have a puppy, so we bought a chow chow called Rommi. He is just eight months old now. He is very stubborn and has a cat-like character. These days, I spend most of my free time walking and training him. He has taught me patience, which goes against my nature – I always try to rush things.
I also like to go to a gym sometimes. Spending time with my husband is one of my favourite pastimes, too.
